Do all bats hibernate?

It will depend on the species. Migrating bats can travel up to 800 miles to and from their winter roosts in Mexico (MFT). Hibernation causes a torpor state, reducing heart rate and thus energy use so they can hibernate up to 5-6 months and survive on few grams of stored fat. Most bats that are going to migrate will do so when the temperature drops below about 60 degrees consecutively for several days to a couple of weeks.
