The best cover crops are those that:
• do not compete with an income-producing crop for resources,
• are easy to manage,
• require minimal to no inputs, and
• provide a clear benefit to your farming system.
Although cover crops provide many benefits, producers should not expect to observe all the benefits at once. Rather, cover crop selection should be based on the prioritized needs of your unique farming system. Your local County Extension Agent can suggest cover crops that perform well in your area.
