There are many resources on weatherization. The eXtension Web site has a resource area about Home Energy. Air leakage, or infiltration, occurs when outside air enters a house uncontrollably through cracks and openings. Weatherization, or properly air sealing cracks and openings in your home, can significantly reduce heating and cooling costs, improve building durability, and create a healthier indoor environment. The U.S. Department of Energy has several sites for more information on weatherization. Home Energy Savers has information on insulation, sealing cracks and openings, doors, and windows. Building America Publications provides information on building in specific climates. Contacts for each state's Weatherization Assistance Program (helping low-income households weatherize their homes) and State Energy Programs (promoting adoption of energy efficiency and alternative energy) are found at the Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs site. Contact your state or County Extension office for more information on local programs and resources available.
