Children, the elderly, and those with suppressed immune systems are the most susceptible to the health hazards presented by the presence of mold. However, any one person may be affected by mold and be or become sensitive to it. Many types of molds exist. All molds have the potential to cause health effects. Molds can produce allergens that can trigger allergic reactions or even asthma attacks in people allergic to mold. Others are known to produce potent toxins and/or irritants. For more information dealing with household molds read "A Brief Guide to Mold, Moisture, and Your Home." If you are a building manager, custodian, or other person responsible for commercial buildings and school maintenance, read "Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings." This guidance also applies to residences. These publications may be found at: http://www.epa.gov/mold
