Lead-based paint may be found in any home built before 1978. As of that date, the federal government banned lead-based paint from housing; However, some leftover lead-based paint or finishes may have been used for a few years after 1978. Retail stores may have had some lead-based paint inventory up until 1982. Some clear finishes may also have had lead content prior to 1978.
