Lead-based paint was banned for use by the Consumer Product Safety Commission in child-occupied buildings (homes, schools, etc.) built before 1978.

Lead-based paint may still be found in some commercial products, industrial paints, and hobby supplies used for pottery and stained glass. Lead may also be found in some imported traditional or folk remedies and cosmetics.
