There are Web sites you can download for "pencil and paper" planning or with software for computer calculation without cost. Two examples of the "pencil and paper" type are at: www.extension.org/pages/Sizing_Up_Your_Financial_Situation or http://njaes.rutgers.edu/money/pdfs/fs421worksheet.pdf.

If you are looking for online computer programs to help, check out Powerpay.org - Basic spending plan and extended spending plan. There is also a simple Excel spending plan template at http://njaes.rutgers.edu/money/templates/Spending-Plan-Template.xls.

Check out www.mymoney.gov for additional online calculators and more links to budgeting information.
