What are the state regulations for interstate animal movement?

  • Every state has its own regulations for interstate animal movement, which is controlled by the Office of the State Veterinarian.

  • A valid health certificate is required for the animal(s) (being moved) showing that the animals

    1. have been inspected by a permitted veterinarian and

    2. are not infected with nor has come into contact with animals carrying a communicable disease.

  • Information on interstate animal movement regulations and getting a valid animal health certificate can be obtained from local veterinarian or the Office of the State Veterinarian.
