Contact the local office of the government agency that manages the property. The contact information can usually be found in your phone book or by going to the agency's Web site. Ask to speak to the fire management officer or similar position and inquire about the agency's plans to treat the property. Often, government agencies will have planning documents prepared which describe their fuel treatment plans for the future. If the property in question is not planned for treatment in the near future, ask how to make it a greater priority. Soliciting the support of neighboring property owners may be beneficial. Also, ask about the possibility of a stewardship agreement. A stewardship agreement allows a private citizen to manage government land as per an agreed-upon plan.
