My husband and I have $15,000 in credit card debt and recently missed a payment. Can we transfer or consolidate our four credit card balances to make payments more manageable?

You can try. Lenders have tightened their credit standards as a result of the 2008-2009 credit crunch, and your late payments have undoubtedly lowered your credit score. If possible, look for a credit card with a low "teaser" rate (e.g., 2.9%) for as long as possible (e.g., up to a year), and try to pay the balance off before the teaser rate expires. Avoid incurring any new debt if at all possible. Slash your expenses and/or consider possible ways to increase your income (e.g., overtime, freelance work, second job) to make debt repayment a priority.
