What is an aerosol and when is it used to treat pests?

Aerosol is a system of fine, solid or liquid particles (less than 30?m diameter) dispersed in gas form. Aerosol cans using an inert compressed propellant are a common means of dispensing insecticides for household use, and for commercial use against stinging insect nests.
