Tree removal ordinances may be available if your property is in an incorporated area, such as a city, town, subdivision, or property owners' association. Your state may also have regulations regarding the removal of dead and dying trees. Check with your local department of natural resources or department of lands office for the laws in your state.
When removing dead and dying trees, if the volume of trees is substantial enough to have a salvage timber sale, do it as soon as possible as the trees may lose value rapidly. Working with a consulting forester or reputable logging contractor is recommended for most forest landowners.
