What is a grub?

A grub is the immature (larval) life stage of certain beetles (Order: Coleoptera). Grubs are typically white with a darkly colored head, and are C-shaped. Examples include the pests known as white grubs (June or May beetles, chafers, Japanese beetle and others) that feed on grass roots, rotting wood, dung, etc.
