What is a fumigant?

A fumigant is a pesticide in gaseous form that kills via toxic or suffocating action. Fumigants kill pests (e.g. insects, pathogens, plants, seeds, etc.) in buildings, soil, grain, produce and during processing and storage. Examples of fumigants include aluminum and magnesium phosphide.
