What is cultural pest control?

Cultural pest control is the management of pests (insects, diseases, weeds) by manipulation of the environment or implementation of preventive practices including using plants that are resistant to pests, raising the mowing height of turf to shade out weeds, aerating turf to reduce compaction and plant stress, dethatching to remove habitat, food sources and impediments to management, etc.
