Calibration is the process of adjusting the output of pesticide application equipment so that the proper amount of pesticide can be applied to a given area. Proper calibration is essential to make sure that you do not waste money or harm the environment by applying too much pesticide. It is also necessary to ensure that enough pesticide is used to control the pest effectively. Unless you are using your pesticide application equipment for the same type of application on a regular basis, you probably need to calibrate whenever you apply a pesticide. Calibration accuracy can be affected by many factors, including the brand or formulation of the pesticide, wear on sprayer nozzles, humidity, habits of the applicator, etc.
