We would suggest reviewing the list of consultants published by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers that can be found in the 2009 Guide To Consultants. Several of these individuals work in the area of animal manure management and will be able to assist you. In addition, many land-grant universities have an academic department devoted to biological, agricultural, and/or bioresource engineering. Those departments usually have at least one faculty member with expertise in animal manure management. That person will be able to direct you to a number of engineering consultants in the private sector in your state who have experience in design, auditing, and refining animal manure management systems. Finally, contact the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) zone office nearest you. Many of the NRCS zone offices have engineering staff who will be acquainted with the private engineering consultants in the area.
