Because woody biomass is expected to be a relatively low-valued forest product, income from biomass will be low compared with most conventional forest products. However, when produced during conventional harvests, income will be in addition to that from conventional forest products. In areas where there are limited markets for wood in any form, a market for biomass would greatly increase cash flow to woodlot owners who wish to reduce stand density to improve forest health and reduce risk from wildfire.
