Each state has different licensing regulations intended to protect the health and safety of children in child care. To find the specific rules for your state, go to the Better Kid Care America state regulations page.

Contact your state licensing agency right away, before you begin plans for your child care center. Licensing regulations include some very specific rules that will influence everything from building construction to staff hiring and training. With the regulations in hand, you will be better able to address licensing issues from the start. Your state may also have technical assistance to help you start your center.
