Not many conditions are known to impede hoof growth. Certainly, poor nutrition can affect hoof growth and integrity. Go to www.extension.org and type "hoof" in the search box. It will return many pages on hoof growth and physiology. Those pages will provide you with information about impediments to growth and other abnormalities.
