I live in Hawaii and want to plant a pomegranate tree for the fruit (not ornamental). What is the best variety to plant? Where would I find the tree?

Punica granatum is the common species of pomegranate that you'll find to grow in home gardens in Hawaii. A list of cultivars can be found in the following publication from Purdue University: Pomegranate. We recommend purchasing plants from your local nursery rather than trying to get them shipped in from other sources. This is better for the environment and supports your local economy.
