Have a question? Try asking one of our Experts

I have an orphan foal that is 10 days old. I have been bottle feeding her and she is doing great. She has become very constipated. Is there anything I can give her besides an enema?

We recommend that you consult a veterinarian as soon as possible to evaluate the foal's constipation. In addition to an enema, you may be instructed by the veterinarian to feed the foal mineral oil which will help soften stools. Constipation and impaction can be a serious issue for foals and should be dealt with immediately.
