What is the possible range of FICO credit scores?

Last Updated: October 01, 2009

View as web page

The possible range of FICO credit scores is from 300 (lowest) to 850 (highest). FICO scores are developed by the California credit scoring firm called Fair Isaac and Co. It is rare, however, to see credit scores below 500 and above 800. Most people have a credit score of at least 620. Depending on the lender, people with scores of 720 to 780 or higher generally have access to the best credit terms (for example, lowest loan rates). The national average FICO credit score is about 675.
