It is difficult to answer this question based on the information provided. Contact your county Cooperative Extension agent for the best help on this matter. Typically, their contact information can be found in the phone book under Cooperative Extension. He or she can look at the results of your soil test, consider your location's drainage and other local factors, and advise you as to the best forage choices. Typically with horses, we recommend a combination of warm- and cool-season grasses, as well as adding a legume to the mix. Should you have broodmares, you'll want to avoid tall fescue, unless you select a tall fescue variety that is certified as endophyte-free.
