The water supply for our horses smells strongly of sulphur. We're wondering if this may affect their intake. Is there a safe agent you can use that cuts the smell to make the water more palatable?

Smells or tastes in water can definitely affect water intake. Too little water consumption could lead to dehydration, which will cause more problems. Some barns install filtration or water treatment systems, such as water softeners, to remove odors and minerals. A possible quick fix is to add a flavoring agent, such as an electrolyte sports drink or apple juice, to the water to encourage horses to drink water that has an offensive odor.
