Where does the drinking water in my well come from?

The drinking water in a private well is groundwater. Groundwater is water beneath the ground that is found in the spaces among soil particles or the cracks in bedrock. Groundwater is part of the movement of water through the environment, which is commonly referred to as the water cycle.
