Yes, as a private well owner, you are responsible for ensuring that your drinking water is safe. Public drinking water supplies are tested regularly. Private well owners are responsible for having their well water tested. A yearly test is important, especially since many of the things that could be in your water are tasteless, odorless, and colorless. Also, you should have your water tested whenever you notice a change in taste, smell, or color of your drinking water.
