Many different sizes of arenas are used for horse activities. The type of show/activity does not necessarily dictate the size of the arena. Horse shows, rodeos, and equitation events have been held in small to large arenas. A 60-foot-wide arena is considered narrow for horse activities. Eighty feet or higher is more desirable. It is desirable to have a length of 100 feet or more. An arena of 100 x 200 is a good size for many disciplines. However, obviously, the larger the arena, the more horses can be shown at the same time safely.
