There are a number of steps to reduce the possibility of flooding around your house.

*Slope the ground 1 inch per foot away the house.

*Since basement windows can't withstand much pressure, build dams and contour the ground so water will naturally drain away from the house.

*Get downspouts down in place so they can carry the water away from the house.

*Check your sump pump.
