This question needs to be asked of a local attorney who specializes in estate planning. We are unable to answer it because there are undoubtedly many case-specific details (for example, the identity of the other co-executor and the details of your deceased husband's father's will). Generally, though, assets of an estate are not distributed until all debts of the estate are settled. Again, you need to seek legal advice specific to your situation. The experts at eXtension cannot provide individual advice. We would like your feedback on this Personal Finance Frequently Asked Question.
