The selection of breeds and foundation stock for profitable meat goat production should be based on four primary factors: • Adaptability to environment • Reproductive rate • Growth rate • Carcass value.  It does not need to be complicated.  Keep the reproductive rate up and keep the animals alive and healthy , and the enterprise will be profitable.  Use breeds that compliment one another so the final outcome will be better than each one individually.
