I was permanently disabled at work and received long-term disability (LTD) benefits from my employer, which were supposed to last until age 65. Without any notice, my employer sold the company, and the LTD carrier stopped paying my disability benefit. A benefits consultant advised me that my policy is non-cancellable. Is the insurance carrier still liable to pay LTD benefits to me? If so, how can I reinstate my benefits?
