Have a question? Try asking one of our Experts

My 5-month-old foal has stopped eating. Could new teeth be coming in that will cause this? She doesn't show any signs of distress, but I am worried that she hasn't eaten in a couple of days. She will drink molasses water. Is this normal or should I contact the vet?

We would recommend contacting your veterinarian as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep the foal hydrated by encouraging water consumption. A foal going off feed could mean many things, and proper diagnosis and treatment are in order to resume normal behavior.
