My 19-year-old daughter has a beautiful mare that is sound and 18 years old. My daughter no longer has time to ride as she is in college out of state. How do we find a loving home with a family who will give her good care? She'd be great for a intermediate rider.

Sounds like you have a great beginner-to-intermediate mare for a child or adult! Word of mouth is often the best means of finding a horse a new loving home. As a start, spread the word with reputable trainers in your area who specialize in beginner and intermediate riders. You may also consider advertising her online (Equine.com, Dreamhorse.com, and others), or through local horse industry publications in your area. Be a discriminating seller. Another possibility is to consider leasing (for free) the mare to someone in your area. You may set up all sorts of variations in the lease, and negotiating to make the situation a win-win is a very attractive arrangement. It sounds as if this mare has been a great horse for your daughter, so don't be afraid to be choosy about her new home.
