How much should an elderly person expect to pay family caregivers? My mom lives with me and currently needs cooking, transportation, and help with minor issues. She can still bathe and dress herself.

If you hired someone from the outside to provide family caregiving services, you could expect to pay from $10 to $30 an hour. The amount will depend on the location where you live and whether you find someone yourself or go through an agency. Contact the Area Agency on Aging (also known as the Office on Aging or the Department of Senior Services) in your locality for information about the names of service providers and prices in your area.
