How can I put my dog on a diet without him begging for more food?

Getting a dog to lose weight can be a challenging process. Gradually, over the course of a week to 10 days, switch to a lower-calorie diet that is high in fiber. The added fiber will help make the dog feel full. At the same time, limit extra treats and table scraps, which are high in calories, and exercise your dog regularly.

Your dog will meet all its nutrient needs on the lower-calorie food alone, but if you still want to give him treats, use kibbles from his daily food allowance. You may want to feed two meals per day so he feels full throughout the day. For dogs that seem hungry or beg for treats, you can give them green beans as a low-calorie filler.
