If your dog has severe symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea, contact your veterinarian immediately to determine the cause of the dog's illness. If the illness is related to his diet, contact the dog food manufacturer. This information should be on the food label. The label also contains the lot number, which will allow for easier tracking of the food's origins and its ingredients. Your vet may report the dog's symptoms and diet information to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA regulates pet food safety and will assist with recalls if one is necessary.
