How often should I vaccinate my new kitten?

It is important that your kitten receives a series of vaccines, usually every two to four weeks between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks or as directed by your veterinarian. Kittens receive some protection (antibodies) against disease from their mothers in the first milk they drink after birth (colostrum). This protection gradually goes away as the kitten gets older, but how quickly this happens varies from individual to individual. The antibodies the kitten gets from the milk can interfere with vaccination if the vaccine is given too early. Multiple doses of the vaccine are needed to fully protect the kitten from some diseases.
