Do you know of any West Virginia lumber companies that sell wood shavings or sawdust for horse stall bedding? I would rather buy it from a West Virginia company, if possible.

Check out the following website: www.wvbiomass.org. On this site, on the left-hand side under the heading "Applications," click on the link that says "WV Wood Industry Byproducts Search." This will take you to an application that lists the producers of wood byproducts such as sawdust, chips, and other items. If you use the "Radius Search" option, you can select your city, the product type (sawdust), and distance from you.

The search results provide all the contact information and the amount of material they typically produce. Note that many of these facilities often already have markets for these byproducts, so they may not be available for purchase by individuals.

If you are more comfortable with a booklet type interface, you can download the 2009 directory PDF file with all of these data in it at the following link: ahc.caf.wvu.edu.
