The production potential of one cubic foot per second (CFS) of water flow depends on several factors related to water quality such as water temperature, oxygen content, and pH and facility-related factors such as raceway exchange rate, use of supplemental oxygenation, feeding rate, accumulation of metabolic waste products, and elevation drop of the site. The industry average is about 20,000 pounds of trout per CFS per year.
