Is it possible to get an extension of FMLA?

FMLA is the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. For more information on this topic, see http://www.extension.org/pages/Family_and_Medical_Leave_Act.

You'll need to take this issue up with your employer. If your emplyer agrees, you may be able to take an extended leave without pay or work from home depending on your job. You should also talk with your local Area Agency on Aging to see what services may be available to assist you with caregiving for your wife. You may be able to work a few days a week or a few hours a day.

To find the Area Agency on Aging nearest you, go to http://www.eldercare.gov.
