Organic gardening experts from around the world will present five educational sessions to inspire herb gardening and use in the coming year.
Speakers include:
-- Dr. John Biernbaum, from Michigan State University, will discuss Soil Building Techniques and Year-Round Production in Unheated Greenhouses.
-- Anne Patterson, from Farmington’s Living Earth Farm, will explain Real Health Care Reform – From Your Garden! Eat healthy to be healthy.
-- Niall and Kristie Campbell, owners of Firefly Grill in Effingham, will co-present From Garden to Table: Savoring the Fruits of Your Labors, a discussion and cooking demo featuring recipes using fresh herbs and organic produce.
-- Jim Schmidt, a home horticulture specialist from the UIUC Department of Crop Sciences, will speak about Pest-Free Posies, detailing some relatively trouble-free flowers for the organic garden.
A retail area will sell a broad spectrum of gardening products. Morning coffee, tea, and rolls will be available, and an organic-themed lunch buffet will be served. Seating is limited, and attendees may register through Nov. 13, with registrations allotted on a first come, first served basis.
Cost of registration includes lunch.
