A two session Educational Short Course, May 04, 2010 and May 18, 2010 (9:30 am to 4:00 PM) * Learn how grazing enhances equine health. * Learn to manage the health risks associated with forages and toxic plants. * Understand the importance of plants in absorbing soil nutrients & reducing soil erosion. * Collect soil samples & apply nutrients to your pastures using the soil test report. * ID forages, weeds & toxic plants growing in your pastures. * Learn how to renovate, manage weeds, & improve pastures. * Develop plans to rotate pastures. * Evaluate the quality of your pastures & complete a pasture condition score sheet. * Evaluate your equine rations to reduce over-supplementation. * Learn to properly store, compost and apply manure. * Learn how current nutrient management legislation affects your operation.
