Description:
To insure, or not to insure? Do you need worker's comp for your farm apprentice? Can you insure land you are leasing from liable for injuries caused by your farming activities? Is insurance too expensive for your small operation? Can you be insured if you sell raw milk or poultry slaughtered on your farm? Join Kevin Bourdon from Co-op Insurance Companies, one of the primary insurers of farms in Vermont, to master the maze or insurance options for farm business owners. Kevin grew up on a dairy farm in Middlebury, VT, and now owns and operates a farm with his family in Waltham, VT. In early 1984, Kevin joined Co-op Insurance Companies. As the Business Development Specialist at Co-op Insurance Companies, Kevin specializes in farm insurance products and training insurance agents to work with new farm businesses.. Kevin will review the types of insurance available, important things to include on your insurance policy, and how insurance can protect you, your assets and your community. A discussion of Worker's Comp regulations and insurance options will be covered. Lots of opportunities for questions as well! Newcomers to online learning are welcome. All you need to participate is internet access and a computer that you can hear sound through. To participate, please go to UVM New Farmer Insurance Webinar at about 6:45 pm Eastern time on September 9, 2010. For more information, contact newfarmer@uvm.edu or call 802-223-2389x203.
