Choctawhatchee Riverkeeper, Inc. (CRK) is partnering with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System to offer erosion and sediment control workshops at the Dale County Complex (Agplex) at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Highway 123 in Ozark, Alabama. Michael Mullen, CPESC, the Choctawhatchee Riverkeeper and others will present two erosion and sediment control sessions for different audiences. The times, session content, and targeted audiences are: 8:30 – 11:30 Erosion Control, Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Refresher for Governmental Employees. This session will address erosion control and sediment control from planning and management to the proper selection, use and maintenance of best management practices (BMPs). It will also provide some insight into probable changes in the new Phase II stormwater permit and resources available to entities (MS4s) that fall under the permit. 1:00 – 4:00 Erosion Control, Sediment Control and Post-Construction Stormwater Management Refresher for Developers and Contractors. This session will address erosion control and sediment control from planning and management to the proper selection, use and maintenance of best management practices (BMPs). It will also provide some information on Low Impact Development (LID) techniques and provide examples of LID in Alabama. Finally, it will provide some insight into probable changes in Alabama’s Construction General Permit. The fee for each of these sessions is $10 to cover handouts and refreshments. Choctawhatchee Riverkeeper, Inc. and other presenters are donating their time for delivery of these workshops. There may be a small additional fee for those wishing to receive CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for their attendance. This fee will be payable at the workshop.
