Description:
This 1.5 day short course focuses on design of CHP systems utilizing solid biomass fuel (primarily wood or field crops) to provide renewable, sustainable heat and power for commercial and industrial facilities.

One of the major opportunities for industrial and commercial building designers is to create facilities that are both economically and ecologically viable. Biomass based Combined Heat and Power systems promise to be a significant component of future green building efforts, providing thermal and electrical needs from locally-produced, renewable fuel. Several new and ongoing projects in the region are successfully using biomass CHP to supply their needs, and there is scope for strong growth in this sector in the coming years.

The event will include a tour of the Greensburg Thermal CHP plant.
Co-sponsored by Penn State Biomass Energy Center, US DOE Mid Atlantic Clean Energy Application Center, Catalyst Connection Economic Development.
