What does "semi-evergreen" mean? I want to purchase a glossy abelia, but the plant tag says it is semi-evergreen. I live in Abilene, Texas.

In botanical terms, semi-evergreen means that it is green for only a part of the winter or only part of the foliage is fully evergreen. For glossy abelia (Abelia x grandiflora), which is rated hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 6 to 9, this means that in Abilene, it will be evergreen in all but severe winters.  If you would like to learn more about Abelia X grandiflora, season of bloom, bloom color, and maintenance requirements, clink this link.
