The only method to directly control bark beetles that are infesting trees is to remove the trees and dispose of the wood by burying, sealing in plastic, taking it off site, chipping, or debarking. The best management is based on prevention techniques, such as thinning the stand, watering during unseasonably dry periods, and applying insecticides to the exterior of the tree.
