Why are some invasive species so successful in a new environment?

Invasive species often are generalists, meaning that they can thrive in a range of environments. Therefore, many invasive species are likely to tolerate changing climate conditions, whereas other more specialized species will be less likely to become established and will be more susceptible to dying off during climate extremes to which they are not adapted.
