I am a housewife and not working. My husband is working, but we never file a joint tax return. Do you need to have a joint tax return with a spouse to claim a spouse's Social Security benefits and Medicare?

Whether you filed joint tax returns or not has no bearing on your possible entitlement as a spouse on your husband's record, nor on your Medicare entitlement on his record. A good Social Security publication for women that discusses spouse’s/survivor’s benefits is "What Every Woman Should Know": www.ssa.gov/pubs/10127.html.
